Easter is a pagan ritual

What is Easter? According to most Christians Easter is the time when Christ resurrected from the dead and became our savior. Most Christian churches celebrate Easter as a time when Christ arose and defeated death. This is typically celebrated on or around the spring equinox, but it varies from year to year by as much as more than a month because of how Easter is determined, which is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. This means Easter can be anywhere from right around March 21st to as late as April 25th since it is based on the full moon. The full moon happens about once every 29 days so if the full moon was on March 20th then Easter would not happen until the following full moon some 29 days later and then the first Sunday after that. This is the reason Easter is different every year. However, Passover is the same time every year which is the 14th day of the first Hebrew month (Abib) which is the beginning of spring which is the spring equinox.

Numbers 9:4-5
4 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover. 5 And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.

So, does the Bible support Easter? The short answer is a resounding no! There is no place in the Bible that Easter is celebrated. To be clear, there is only one verse in all of the KJV Bible that has the word Easter and that is Acts 12:4. This is when king Herod was out to kill those that were preaching Christ and he had just apprehended Peter and put him in jail.

Acts 12:4
And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

However, there is a problem with this verse, and that is the word Easter was incorrectly interpreted as the Greek word is Pascha, which is Passover, like every other place that pascha is used. In the Strong's concordance the word Easter is # 3957 in the New Testament which is the same word as passover. Passover is Strong's # 6453 in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, Strong's 3957 – Pascha – refers to 6453 in the Old Testament. The definition is as follows: “The passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it.)”

So, how many times is the word Passover found in the entire KJV Bible? It is found 48 times in the Old Testament and 28 times in the New Testament. What about the word Easter? In the entire KJV Bible it is found only one time, which is in the New Testament, and never in the Old Testament.

Now that we know this one might ask, why is the one place (Acts 12:4) interpreted as Easter instead of Passover since the word really should be Passover? I think it is safe to say that satan had a hand in it since Easter is a pagan day, which is about as anti-Christian as you can get considering that Easter has to do with Ishtar which is a pagan goddess and is all about a sexual orgy. In fact, the idea of an Easter bunny or colored Easter eggs has nothing to do with  the resurrection of Christ but has to do with quick-like-a-bunny sexually, and rolling Easter eggs for fertility rights. Both have to do with sexuality which has nothing to do Christ resurrecting!

For a more in depth explanation here is a link to a website that explains in some detail the origins of Easter and why it is a pagan holiday and nothing to do with the resurrection of Christ or Passover.

I believe that some people have a hard time accepting this truth about Easter because they have been taught for many years and convinced by churches that teach that Easter is the day Christ resurrected. When asked they just try to pass it off as these things being symbols of life. So then I ask, how does a bunny rabbit signify new life like the resurrection? And, if you knew this, that Easter is not the correct thing to celebrate Christ's resurrection and is in fact an abomination, then why would you want to have anything to do with Easter any longer? Once you gain knowledge of the truth then as a true Christian it should only be natural that you no longer want to have anything to do with the old sinful ways. The difficulty here can be that people fall in love with their pastors, and churches for that matter, and have a hard time accepting that the pastor that they have come to love and admire is teaching something so wrong. What they should be doing is checking out what the pastor is teaching.

Let's look at what Paul wrote to the Galatians that were taught the truth by Paul but some time later started listening to some false teaching and were hanging on to it instead of searching the scriptures to verify if this teaching aligned with what they were originally taught.

Galatians 1:6-9
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

We must always be careful as to what we listen to and accept as gospel as the Bible tells us to be vigilant and check things out for ourselves.

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The Bereans were great examples of people who accepted the Gospel but were careful to check out what they were taught and verify if it aligns with scriptures.

Acts 17:11
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Now that we know that Easter is not even in the Bible and that Passover is the day we should celebrate the resurrection of Christ, let's look at where Passover came from and why it is important.

The first, or original, Passover was in Egypt when Israel was being held as slaves by Pharaoh and God used Moses to bring about the ten plagues on Egypt. After each of the first nine plagues Pharaoh refused to let the Hebrews go to worship God in the wilderness but the tenth plague changed his mind as that was the one that is referred to as the Passover. The Passover was so named in that any household that put some of the blood of the lamb on the two side posts and the upper door post of the door of their home that God would cause the destroyer to pass over them and not kill their first born child. Exodus 12:7, Exodus 12:12-13, Exodus 12:21-24.

7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.
13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see    the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.
22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.
23 For the Lord will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the Lord will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.
24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

Finally, we find in the New Testament that Christ has become our Passover and the ultimate sacrifice so that we no longer have to sacrifice lambs or any animals to be saved from death and can have eternal life through belief and faith in Christ.

1 Corinthians 5:7
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

The original Passover was a likeness to Christ keeping Christians from death in the final judgment. Christ gave everyone the choice to be saved by believing in Him. Christ is our anointing oil, that's what Christ means – The Anointed One.

So as you see, Christ became our Passover, not our Easter, as Easter is never used but in only one place in the KJV New Testament and that by mistake.
