No Apple in the Garden
The truth about the Garden of Eden!  What happened in the garden?
First you must understand figures of speech used all through the Bible to convey a much deeper meaning than what can be relayed just by using words. In Revelation 20:2, Jesus laid hold of the dragon "the old serpent" who is the devil and Satan. This is never taken as a literal snake/serpent nor should Genesis 3:1 be taken literally. Notice the word “old” which means, from long-ago. We can't go any further back than the book of Genesis in God's written word. Revelation 12:9, again, "The old serpent" is referred to and described as the devil. 2 Corinthians 11:3 says, the serpent deceived Eve. Strong’s concordance #3789 in the Greek dictionary says this Greek word means figuratively "to be sly and cunning, an artful malicious person, especially Satan", also being that the serpent in Revelation is "The devil and Satan", interpreted by God's word itself, and that when Jesus, the second man Adam, the last Adam, was tempted, who did the tempting? It was Satan himself:  Matthew 4:1.
You must be able to use scripture to interpret scripture. It was that "old serpent" in the garden, Satan himself. So you can forget about a talking snake it is a figure of speech, besides, snakes don't have and never did have vocal chords which is needed for speech. Genesis3:1 says; “and he the serpent said to the woman” also verse four, “and said the serpent to the woman.” This word “said” in the Strong’s concordance Hebrew dictionary #559, it means "speech, talking, calling out". So it was not just using the mind to influence Eve's mind it was actual speech. So where does this word serpent in the Hebrew come from? (Remember, the original scriptures, Genesis through Malachi, were written in Hebrew and Chaldee and both are extremely similar.)
Strong’s concordance #5175 in the Hebrew dictionary is nachash from the root word nachash which means to hiss or whisper a magic spell. (It probably sounded a lot like magic to Eve.) It also means "enchantment, learn by experience, observe". Let's take a quick look at Isaiah 6:2 when he is describing the angels that are protecting God's throne called Seraphim. The Strong’s concordance number for Seraphim is #8314 from the root word #8313 saraph, which means "to be on fire" or "Burning one". Strong’s #8314 ads as figuratively "poisonous serpent" (from the burning bite of a serpent), #8314 also says specifically a saraph or symbol, creature, from there copper color, fiery serpent, saraph. In Isaiah 6:2 and 6:6 these are clearly the high order of angels well known to any good pastor/Bible teacher that are around God's throne.
Let's also look at the book of Numbers, verse 21:6, God sent serpents, literal serpents/fiery serpents, and they bit the people and many died. The Strong’s concordance Hebrew dictionary number is #5175 and the number for fiery is #8314. In Numbers 21:8 God told Moses to make a fiery serpent. This is #8314 in the Strong’s Hebrew dictionary which means seraph, "burning one". God told Moses to put it on a pole. Then in Numbers 21:9 it says that Moses made a serpent of bronze. The Strong’s numbers used are #5175 nachash and #5178 nechosheth. #5178 means shiny metal. So in God's word #5175, nachash, is used as interchangeable with #8314 saraph . Now if saraph is used of a serpent because it's bite was burning, and is also used of a Celestial or spirit being "A burning one", why should not nachash be used of a serpent because it's appearance was shining, and also be used of a Celestial or spirit being "A shining one"? (CREDIT: E. W. Bullinger The Companion Bible appendix #19, Page 24.)
The nachash or serpent that beguiled eve is spoken of as an angel of light in 2 Corinthians 11:3-14. Remember the New Testament/covenant was written in Greek, the Strong’s concordance number for the Greek word serpent is #3789, figuratively as a type of sly and cunning, an artful malicious person, especially Satan:-serpent. The Bible is interpreting the Bible, new and Old Testament/covenant. Jesus/yashua, referred to the old covenant many many times as being alive and well, not old and outdated. It now should be so clear that the serpent in the garden is not a snake but a glorious shining angel that is extremely cunning and sly, namely, Satan! Also, eve was not afraid of him like a woman would be of a literal snake but she was drawn to him as an angel of light acknowledging him as one who possessed superior knowledge. The serpent in the garden was of superior order not inferior order! Eve did not talk to a literal snake but to an angel of light!
One more look into God's word just to make it "so easy that a child could understand" (CREDIT: Arnold Murray.) Ezekiel 28:11-19 clearly is describing Satan's fall. Not to be mistaken for the prince of Tyre in Ezekiel 28:1-10, who is a literal man. Satan "The king of Tyre" was called a covering cherub who was full of beauty and brightness and that he was full of wisdom and that he was in Eden the garden of God. He was lifted up and ascended and God cast him to the ground (earth), got it?
Let's look at the word beast in Genesis 3:1. This is the Hebrew word chey, Strong’s concordance #2416. It means living creature or living thing just as the Greek word in the new covenant zoa, Strong’s concordance #2226. This word is translated living creature in Revelation 4:6-8, the living creatures or living beings around God's throne. So you have the serpent, an angel of light, who is more wise than any other living being that God had created. Also Genesis 3:1 does not even call Satan a beast but just that he was more wise than any other beast or living thing that God had created.
Now let's talk about the trees in the Garden of Eden! Genesis 2:9 says that God put in the garden every tree pleasant to the site and good for food. The word “every” is Strong’s concordance #3605, from #3634, which means to complete, all, whole, every. In addition to every tree that was good for food was the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the midst of the garden. The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil are spoken as also being in the garden in addition to every tree in the garden good for food. So God made spring up from the ground every tree that was pleasant to the site and good for food. Every/all trees from the ground, in addition to every tree that sprang up from the ground was the tree of life in the midst of the garden and the tree with the knowledge of good and evil. These two trees were very different from the trees that sprang up from the ground! Remember, the Bible is full of figures of speech. The Hebrew word for bone as in backbone is #6106. The definition includes the body, strengths, life, but is taken from #6105 which means to bind fast, i.e. close (the eyes). The Hebrew word for tree is #6086. This word is taken from #6095 which means to fasten, i.e. to close (the eyes) The very next word in the Strong’s concordance is #6096, a very  similar Hebrew spelling and it means the spine, as giving firmness to the body, back. So you see how easily one could use in the Hebrew language a tree for a man. The backbone as the trunk and the arms and legs as the limbs, as a matter of fact we refer today to our arms and legs as being limbs. In the medical field they refer to the body as the trunk and arms and legs as limbs. It's not a stretch of the imagination but a tree that can think like one with a brain is a great stretch of the imagination my friend!
In the great book of Mark, verse 8:24, Jesus heals a man without sight and asks him what he sees? The man responds, I see men as trees walking, Strong’s concordance #1186. Then Jesus lays his hand on the man's eyes again and he could see clearly. Revelation 2:7 says that the tree of life is in the midst of paradise. The word Eden means paradise or pleasure, Strong’s concordance #5731, and the word garden means fenced in or Walled to protect or defend. The tree in the midst of paradise is none other than Jesus Christ, the life giver, also known as the bread of life, John 6:48, 51, 53. So a tree can represent a person or living being. Also Revelation 22:2 says the tree of life will be in heaven when the father returns and rejuvenates the earth and brings heaven to earth. It also says the tree of life will be in the streets and on both sides of the river that flows from God's throne. Also Revelation 22:14 says that the ones who keep his commandments they have the right to the tree of life and may enter through the gate into New Jerusalem/Heaven! Clearly the tree of life is Jesus and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is Satan, who comes as an angel of light, 2 Corinthians 11:14.
For other scriptures about trees and fruit as men being used as figures of speech, see Matthew 3:10, 7:15, 16, also false profits as bearing bad fruit, see Matthew 7:18, 19. Men used as trees and their work as fruit see Luke 3:9, 6:34, 6:44.
When God created man and woman he told them to be fruitful and multiply, Genesis 1:28. God's commandment in Genesis 2:16-17 was of every tree in the garden you may freely/surely eat of it but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not freely/surely eat of it for in the day you do you shall surely die. God never used the word fruit, #6529. Eve added two words to God's commandment: #1, the word fruit and #2, the word touch and she removed the word surely in "surely you shall die". Anytime anyone ads or takes away from God's word you have big problems!
You can read about adding or taking away from God's word in Revelation 22:18, 19. In his tempting Jesus Satan also added/took away from the Scriptures Matthew 4:6 and Luke 4:10 Satan left out the phrase in Psalm 91:11, 12 "to keep you in all your ways" so Eve added the word fruit! When Eve saw the tree (Satan, an angel of light) was good for food/knowledge, knowing good and evil. Food, Strong's concordance #3978 means food, fruit, edible. From Strong's #398 which is a prime root means; to eat (figuratively or literally). These words are also included in the definition of this prime root; wise and freely. Next is the phrase “pleasant to the eyes and desirable”. Strong's #8378 says it means a longing for, desire, lusting, from #183 to wish for, covet, long for, lust after. So eve was sinning before she ate of the fruit! (Thou shall not covet Exodus 20:17, the 10th commandment). Also in Genesis 3:6 the tree was desirable to make one wise/knowledge. She took of its/his fruit and ate. He seduced her with his beauty and wisdom.
Now let's look at the word touch which eve also added. Strong's #5060 means touch, i.e. Lay the hand upon for any purpose; euphemism (to lie with a woman). This is exactly how the Strong's concordance reads for #5060, euphemism means-A mild or indirect word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh or blunt when referring to something unpleasant or embarrassing. Why would Eve add such a word if she wasn't coveting and longing for and desiring to be with this angel of light also known as the tree with the knowledge of good and evil, also known as the serpent who is also known as the devil, Satan and the dragon (Revelation 12:9). Satan seduced Eve in the fig grove portion of the garden Genesis 3:7 (they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons). Eve had sex with Satan then gave to Adam this knowledge of good and evil who was with her, Genesis 3:6. They both sinned together. Notice Adam was right there with her apparently watching the whole thing go down and he didn't stop it. Let's look at the word Eve used to explain what happened. She said the serpent deceived me, Strong's #5377. This word means; to lead astray i.e. (mentally) to delude or (morally) to seduce, beguile, deceive. Once you hear what the curse was to Eve you can plainly see that the angel of light seduced Eve with his beauty and his smooth talk and she had sex with the serpent.
LISTEN UP! The curse to Eve is; greatly I will increase thy sorrow and your conception. Strong's #2032 means pregnancy, conception. (The only two words used) The word sorrow is Strong's #6093 which means labor, pain. Then the lord said in pain you shall bear sons. If sex was not the sin in the garden then why did they sew fig leaves over their private parts? Why did they all of the sudden have the knowledge that they were naked and ashamed of it? Why, please tell me, why would God make the woman have pain in pregnancy and child birth? Come on, you can get this, "it's so easy a child could understand." Do you want the truth or a lie? It's up to you!
Then God says you shall desire, Strong's #8669, a different word than used in Genesis 3:6. This word does mean a longing for but not as one seeing something with the eyes and desiring it, this is longing to have the position or authority that the husband has. Then God said, but he (The husband) shall rule over you. The word rule is Strong's #4910 and it means; to govern, have dominion, to have power. Now the man was cursed because he listened to his wife instead of God Genesis 3:17.
One more thing, just to seal the deal. In Genesis 4:1 it says that Adam knew his wife, Strong's #3045, means; to know, again the word euphemism is used just like in the word touch. To know his wife is to have sex with her. Eve conceived and bore Cain, Genesis 4:2, and she continued to bear his brother Abel. The word continued is Strong's #3254, it means; to continue to do a thing. Cain and Abel were twins by two different fathers. Ask any baby doctor, it is uncommon but does happen. Also you will find that Cain's genealogy is not located under Adam's genealogy and is in a completely different Part of the Scriptures. (The first toledoth, the generations of the heavens and the earth are not in the book of the generations of Adam. The posterity of Seth commences with the generations of Adam: showing that the two accounts are distinct, and deal with two different subjects). Credit E. W. Bullinger, The Companion Bible, appendix #20 p26. Genesis 5:1 states that this is the beginning of Adams genealogy after Cain's genealogy has already been given in Genesis 4:17. How long Adams children lived and at what age they died is also given but none of these particulars are given of Cain's line. Cain was not Adams son and was the result of what happened in the garden, Eve had sex with Satan. For more on Cain's offspring see Strong's #7014, Kenite.
The sin in the garden was sex, not eating an apple!  For more on the devils seed see (the parable of the tares) Matthew 13:35-40. The devil sewed bad seed (Cain) in the garden of Eden! See also John 8:44 (The first murderer). The first murder was Cain the seed of the devil, his father sewed (The devils offspring). Cain's offspring are the Kenite's, Strong's #7014
